Veterinary Surgeon | MMI Course Lead | Expert Interviewer

Georgina is an equine veterinary surgeon who graduated with honours from The University of Nottingham in 2021. She is currently studying towards a Master’s in Conservation Medicine and is now focusing on cross species specialisation. She has a strong interest in teaching and has been involved in mentoring of many prospective vet students from a variety of backgrounds. Georgina thoroughly enjoys co-producing the materials for our courses. She teaches on the UK National MMI Course and also provides bespoke one-to-one student support. Outside of work, she plays several instruments in musical ensembles and enjoys running through the great outdoors.

6 Hours. Is It Enough To Prepare You For Your MMI Interview? Of Course Not. But It’s The Best Start.

This is a half day course, which runs from 10 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on weekends between October to March. Run by a team of experienced veterinary students and veterinary surgeons from some of the UK’s top universities, we’ve recently been through the system and will teach you everything you need to know to interview like a pro.

This course will give you the best strategy, tips, and advice to apply to your veterinary interview; this will run online in 2024-5. Our courses are designed to be bespoke, and we have a limit of only 8 students on each course. The first 2.5 hours consist of structured teaching followed by 2.5 hours of MMI stations – with detailed feedback from our team of expert interviewers and actors

We have attempted to simulate the interviews as much as possible. Stations last 6-7 minutes with 2 minutes of oral feedback after each station. Written feedback is provided at the end of the course. Students will encounter a total of 12 different scenarios.

The course is led by a senior vet or the Director of Veterinary Education, Dr Georgina Kivneen. For the afternoon interview stations, we have a range of vets and veterinary students who act as assessors and role-players for the MMI stations. Our team study or have graduated from universities across the UK including RVC, Liverpool and Cambridge. Our tutors are all interviewed, DBS checked and undergo training prior to teaching on any course.

We have a maximum of 6 students for the afternoon MMI stations, each station is conducted on a one-to-one basis. We have a maximum of 8 students for the morning lectures.

Detailed verbal feedback is provided to all students on our courses, informally in the morning and then formally during the 1-1 interviews. Following the course, detailed written feedback and mark schemes are sent to candidates following course feedback.

Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we will continue to provide our courses online. We find that it offers multiple advantages including keeping costs down and increasing the accessibility of vet tutors from all across the UK. But come on, you can take this course from the comfort of your home while wearing your favourite pyjamas. If you insist, we can offer a selection of one-to-one courses in person, please contact us for more information!

Yes, we do set a small task of some light pre-reading which takes 1-2 hours. Whilst not compulsory, we strongly recommend it so you can make the most of the day. It’s also really helpful if you can identify your strengths and weaknesses beforehand.

We know how busy life can get so we don’t expect you to have read the book. However, having a flick through the pre-reading material will ensure you get the most out of the course!

Of course, the workbooks are created by vets for vets. It’s over 100+ pages and is available online or as a hard copy (on demand).

Postponing 11 days or more before the course
If you are asking for a postponement 11 days or more before the day of the course and it is the first time you have requested a postponement, then you can transfer your booking onto another course for free. The postponement takes effect as soon as we notify you by email that we have transferred your booking.

Postponing between 5 and 10 days before the course
If you are asking for a postponement between 5 and 10 days before the course, then you can transfer your booking onto another course subject to a payment of an administration fee of £20, which must be paid by 23:59 on the day payment of that fee has been requested. The postponement will take effect only when your payment has been received. Failure to pay the fee by that time will result in the request for transfer being cancelled and you will remain booked on the original course. Should you wish to transfer the course again, you will need to make a further request.

Postponing 4 days or less before the course date
We regret that no request for postponement can be accepted 4 days or less before a course or on the day of the course itself because we’ve done all the prep already. Please note that we can only accept requests for transfers on to courses which are being advertised at the time of request.

More than 11 working days before the course
Our refund policy is that we can give you a full refund if you let us know at least 11 days before the course you’re registered to attend minus the cost of any online courses/resources. As access to e-resources are available immediately upon purchase we are unable to offer refunds on the interview workbook (£59) or any other online resources. You will be refunded the value of the Course itself, but not the value of the Workbook as they are an e-resource.

Between 5 and 10 working days before the course
If it’s less than 10 days before the course starts then unfortunately we can’t give a refund because we’ve already done all the prep for the course! All is not lost, however! We can transfer your registration to another student, or change your course date to another course for a £20 admin fee, which must be paid by 23:59 on the day payment of that fee has been requested.

4 days or less before the course date
If it’s less than 4 days before the course we’ve already done all the prep for you being there and unfortunately can’t process the amendments in time even if you want to pay the admin fee. Here you can find more information on the terms and conditions page.
